National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falls on Monday, September 30. This is a time for us all to come together in unity, empathy, and respect. It is a day to acknowledge the painful truths of our past and commit ourselves to a future of understanding, healing, and collaboration with Indigenous peoples across our country.
As an organization, Bee-Clean is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace that recognizes the importance of diversity and Indigenous voices. Bee-Clean is proud to introduce our National land acknowledgement statement, as well as custom Indigenous land acknowledgment plaques for each of our branch offices nationwide.
These plaques will be distributed in the coming weeks, allowing each office to hang their plaque proudly for staff and clients to view. These custom plaques are designed to remind us daily of the historical and cultural significance of the land on which we operate. Each plaque is carefully written to recognize the local First Nation, Métis, and Inuit peoples who have long stewarded these lands.
Bee-Clean commissioned Sayisi Dene artist Nahanni Giuricich from Calgary, Alberta, to create artwork for our plaques that would pay a visual tribute to the landscapes and Indigenous cultures that have shaped these regions from the West Coast to the Atlantic provinces. We are honoured by the beautiful work Nahanni has done and know these plaques will be viewed for years in our branches across Turtle Island.
At Bee-Clean, we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires dedication and commitment from all of us. As we commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, let us also remember that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to positive change and healing in our country.
